Hi everyone! Sandi here. Today I’d like to share a fun project that I made with the awesome May “Trunk show” mixed media kit. Wow! This month’s kit has some amazing creamy Art Anthology paints and pattern papers to play with! Fun!

With Summer around the corner, I thought it would be fun to make an upbeat Summer project that I could hang in my craft room to help me keep focused on all the wonderful things that this awesome season has to offer…..this is what I came up with! Notice the Sun, in the upper left corner, I made this with the exclusive stencil, which is included in this kit….don’t ya just love it! Yeah! Here’s how I made this fun project:

Just look at that gorgeous creamy “limeaid” color! And the Art Anthology paint goes on so nicely and it’s transparent! Love that! Also, in the kit, is an Art Anthology “java” colored paint pen so that you can doodle or write with. For me, I used it to go around the edges of my project.

Now, because I love a 3D look, I took some of the bubble wrap, which was included in last month’s mm kit, and I painted lightly on it for a fun background look.

Once I placed the bubble wrap on my background, I then took the pattern paper, included in the kit, and cut out some fun shapes and  sewed them onto a strip of burlap, which is also in this fabulous kit.

Once, all my shapes were attached, I put them on top of the bubble wrap and then went to my nifty Silhouette and cut out a pair of glasses…..perfect topper for my “fun in the sun” project! Love my silhouette even more now that I’m on the Paper Bakery team…..and you can love yours even more too because, now if you’re a Paper Bakery subscriber, you get FREE cut/prt’d files, which are alternated every month. That’s right, You get these extras FREE as a subscriber…..how cool is that!

Be sure to stop by daily for some amazing DT projects that we have to share with you. And if you’re looking to get messy, with your mixed media kit, I’ll be showing you more projects that focus more on ‘painting’ later this month…..yeah, let’s get messy!!! In the mean time, why not give our sketch challenge a try, we’d love to see your creations!

Hugs, Sandi

A “Project Card” Goodie Box

Do you have a lot of Project Life type cards laying around?  Or do you wish you had them ready to go when you want to work on your “Project” project?!  Katrina here, with a little idea for you to make those cards a little easier to keep track of and have them handy.

I used a cut file on my Cameo from Lori Whitlock to make a little card file box.  This one fits 3×4 cards perfectly.  I decorated it up with one of my favorite papers in the May add-on scrapbooking kit, Glitz Roadshow.

I used the flair button and some of the letter stickers in the kit to decorate the front.  This way I know that these cards are ready to go.  And that flair in the May kit was “ready made” for this project!

I haven’t decided what to put on the label on the back.  I am thinking 3×4, just so I will know at a glance what sized cards are in there.

AND, the best part about this is that I am going to cut out a bunch of generic cards so that they are ready to insert into my pages.  Now, I have a place to store them and can grab them when I am ready to work.  I actually do a monthly overview, instead of a weekly.  I just do not have the time to do a weekly double page spread.  The monthly works with my schedule.  Shhh…don’t tell anyone that I am a couple of months behind!

Another great thing is if you have left over die cut cards from embellishments packs, you can tuck those in there also to use along with your cut out cards.  I wish I had thought of this sooner!  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope I gave you a little idea of how to be just a little more organized with fun little goodies!

And I am sure you will do a little happy dance, when you receive your May Kit, Glitz Roadshow!  It has some yummy Crate Paper goodies, including Maggie Holmes new line for CP.  There are a lot of fun things in this month’s Kit, including DIY Shop Photo Overlays and Cardstock Bits, Studio Calico Mini Alpha Stickers, cute Custom Flair, and of course, lots of pretty patterned papers!  I used our current Sketch to create my layout for today’s post…and don’t forget, that you can play along with our Sketch challenges each month for the chance to win some Paper Bakery goodies!

I decided to use the fun Photo Overlays from Crate Paper behind my photos to recreate the layered look from the Sketch.  And instead of using arrows under my photos, I used the View Finder and Flower piece from the DIY Shop Cardstock Bits.  And, if you are looking for a fun way to use the ribbon included with the Kit, why not trying punching holes in a frame or some of your patterned paper and threading the ribbon through it.  I used this technique on the frame behind my focal photo.

I am sure you don’t want to miss out on what’s included in the May Kit and the upcoming Kits will be just as fabulous, so make sure you stop by The Paper Bakery Shop to sign up for a Kit Subscription.  You will get guaranteed monthly Kits sent right to your door, Custom Flair Buttons, exclusive Printables or Cut Files, and a discount for signing up for your Subscription!

And our current Sketch challenge remains open until May 18th, so make sure to play along and link up your layout on the Blog.

Hi friends! It’s Mary Ann here today with a layout using the fab May kit, “Glitz Roadshow” (that will be available this week!!) along with one of our awesome Paper Bakery sketches. First up, the sketch and the inspiration for my layout…

As you can see I used the Crate Paper photo overlays to represent the squares behind the photo, then added some bits and pieces of the Crate Paper Ephemera Pack, the beautiful green ribbon and of course I had to add in a flair button ;)

I also added the chevron wood veneers that were left over from the March kit. (That’s one of the fun things about the Paper Bakery kits, there is always so much fun stuff, I always have something left over!)

This current sketch challenge goes through May 18, so you still have time to enter.  We’d love to have you play along!!
