Happy Father’s Day everyone and welcome to the Paper Bakery blog! Juliana here and today I am sharing Sketch Challenge #6 with you!

Yes, today is Father’s Day and how perfect that I ended up scrapping a photo of my Dad to share with you today!!! I took this photo during one of my visits to see him. Every time we go to see my Dad during the summer, we have to make a trip to the local burger/ice cream joint called Belew’s Dairy Bar. In my opinion they make THE best peanut butter malts in the world!!! Once I had picked this photo to scrap, I decided to use the sketch from Sketch Challenge #6 and this is my take on it. I pretty much just followed the sketch this time and I enjoyed how quickly it came together. Sometimes it is nice to keep it easy and I find a sketch can always help with that!!!

I had a blast using the Heidi Swapp Buzz Word Stickers to create my title and to embellish the layout along with the super cool UmWOW Studio chipboard stars!!!

I want to share a few quick tips on some techniques I used on my layout. If you look closely you will notice that I used the Elle’s Studio Frames. I wanted to bottom portion to stick out below my photo, but I didn’t want to waste the rest of the frame, so I cut it and used the rest of it at the top of the layout above the photo. In these next two photos, you can see how I cut the frames and attached them to my layout from the back side.

I love embroidery floss and this super cool neon yellow is fabulous! And a little adds such a fun pop of color! I used Glossy Accents to attach it along the left side to enhance the thin border strip I cut off the bottom of one of the Elle’s Studio Saltwater patterned papers included in the kit!

The UmWOW Studio chipboard stars are fabulous “naked”, but I wanted to add a little bling, so I spritzed them with a good coat of Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold. It takes a little time for the ink to dry, but a heat gun helped to speed up the process!

One for use for the fabulous neon yellow embroidery floss is to use it to frame a photo. I used my Tim Holtz Paper Piercer to poke a hole at each corner of my photo.

I then sewed around the edge to create long lines of embroidery floss to “frame” the photo.

Well, not that kind of framed, but have you ever tried frames on your Scrapbook layouts? Today I am stopping in to share a layout I created earlier this month for the National Scrapbook Day Blog Hop, using our NSD Sketch by Juliana Michaels. I wanted to take a different approach to the background of the Sketch, so I used one of the patterned papers from the May Kit, Glitz Roadshow, and cut some rectangle frames using my Silhouette Cameo. Then I backed the frames with the striped Vellum paper included in the Kit.

The pack of DIY Shop Cardstock Bits from Crate Paper that’s included in this month’s Kit, gives you a lot of embellishment options for your layouts and projects. I loved pairing them with the Photo Overlays and The Paper Bakery Flair Buttons!
It’s hard to believe, but start looking for upcoming sneaks and projects with the June Kit, coming soon!!

Hello everyone! Juliana here to reveal the second Sketch Challenge for May using the fantastic May Scrapbook Kit Glitz Roadshow!
First, let me share Sketch #2 with you:

I loved the idea of adding three photos to my layout, but when I was selecting photos to create with, I only had two that I wanted to use so I choose to double one of them and use it more as an accent to the main photo. We are eating ice cream at an adorable little ice cream and chocolate shop that my husband grew up going to. They make some of the best hot fudge sauce so of course we had to have some hot fudge sundaes while we were there!!!

I cut my title letters using my Silhoutte Cameo and a font called Market Deco. I cut them from white cardstock three times and glued the layers together. I then added gold glitter glue to them for a bit of sparkle and shine! I also used the adorable letter stickers by Studio Calico that are included in the kit. I added a little bit of machine stitching along the bottom of each word. One thing I loved about this kit is that all of the papers had super cute barcode strips along the bottom. I trimmed them, fussy cut along the scalloped edge and then I adhered them to my layout with a little machine stitching! Another fun tip is that the green cards along the top of the photos are all cut in half. The other half is being saved to be used on another project!!!

And last but not least, look at that Paper Bakery Flair! Be still my heart! It was the perfect little embellishment to dress up some of the Crate Paper die cuts!!!

So, are you going to play along with our second Sketch Challenge for May? I sure hope so!!!

And I am sure you will do a little happy dance, when you receive your May Kit, Glitz Roadshow! It has some yummy Crate Paper goodies, including Maggie Holmes new line for CP. There are a lot of fun things in this month’s Kit, including DIY Shop Photo Overlays and Cardstock Bits, Studio Calico Mini Alpha Stickers, cute Custom Flair, and of course, lots of pretty patterned papers! I used our current Sketch to create my layout for today’s post…and don’t forget, that you can play along with our Sketch challenges each month for the chance to win some Paper Bakery goodies!

I decided to use the fun Photo Overlays from Crate Paper behind my photos to recreate the layered look from the Sketch. And instead of using arrows under my photos, I used the View Finder and Flower piece from the DIY Shop Cardstock Bits. And, if you are looking for a fun way to use the ribbon included with the Kit, why not trying punching holes in a frame or some of your patterned paper and threading the ribbon through it. I used this technique on the frame behind my focal photo.
I am sure you don’t want to miss out on what’s included in the May Kit and the upcoming Kits will be just as fabulous, so make sure you stop by The Paper Bakery Shop to sign up for a Kit Subscription. You will get guaranteed monthly Kits sent right to your door, Custom Flair Buttons, exclusive Printables or Cut Files, and a discount for signing up for your Subscription!
And our current Sketch challenge remains open until May 18th, so make sure to play along and link up your layout on the Blog.
