After making the base from cardstock, I cut a few banner shapes, and added those and a journaling sticker to the pretty yellow floral paper . I then added the cute wooden Maya Roads doily, with some more papers to look like a flower, with  a sweet October Afternoon tin pin in the center.  It was pretty easy, and quick too, and I was even happy with the way it turned out for someone like me that’s not a card maker.

I had this little Making Memories mini laying around, and I thought this kit would be perfect to finally put it to use. I kept it fairly simple, as I am thinking of giving it as a gift for a friend to use as a sort of journal. Where she can put a collection of random good moments in to remember.

I have to say one more time, that I just love this kit! It made everything come together so easy! I hope you are all enjoying your kits this month, make sure and share photos on our facebook page! We would love to see your creations!

Today I want to share a layout that I made using the fun February Add On kit…..

As a Filipina, it’s part of my DNA to make Lumpia (filipino eggrolls) and when my parents came to visit for my son’s baptism last summer, my mom and I along with my daughter made some eggrolls for the brunch after the event. It fills my heart with a big pride to see three generations of eggroll makers.

As for the design, I started with a grid look so I can fit as many photos as I can and then I added some  handcut flowers (from one of the October Afternoon papers) as my visual triangle. I also punched out some paper squares, rolled them up and then added them on the page to mimic eggrolls. Baker’s twine and a vintage journaling tag finished off the look. Here’s some close ups….

So there you have it. I can’t wait to show off some March projects soon.

My post today (which should have been posted yesterday) is all about a new trend in scrapbooking…….wooden shapes. The February add on kit came with 2 of the fabulous Maya Road wooden doilies. They were so much fun to play with considering all of the different options there are to decorate them.

I chose to jazz up my wooden doilies by using different colors of mists. This first example, I chose to spritz my doily with some yellow mist (October Afternoon Lemon Drop).  I love the way it came out looking like a piece of wood that had a coat of stain applied to it. I also applied some acrylic paint to create the circle for a little more dimension.

And here is my second example where I used Tattered Angels’  Black Magic mist.

I actually kept pretty true to the layout (which is unusual for me)   I really loved this sketch, and had a lot of fun with it.
